A Note from The Board Chair of ISSI

As Board Chair of Independent Sustainability Systems, Inc., I am honored to support an organization rooted in thoughtful leadership, practical action, and a deep commitment to community well-being. ISSI was founded with a clear purpose: to help communities and organizations build sustainable systems that work in the real world, for real people.

What drew me to this work, and to Edouard’s vision in particular, is the emphasis on substance over slogans. Sustainability is often discussed in broad terms, but ISSI approaches it with discipline, data, and an understanding that environmental responsibility must be paired with economic viability and human capacity. This balance is essential if sustainability efforts are to endure.

Education and skills development are central to that mission. From my perspective as an educator and practitioner, lasting impact comes when individuals and communities are equipped with knowledge, practical skills, and pathways to opportunity. ISSI’s focus on learning, workforce readiness, and community empowerment reflects a belief I strongly share: sustainable systems are built by informed, capable people.

As Board Chair, my role is to help ensure strong governance, accountability, and alignment between mission and practice. The Board is committed to supporting ISSI’s growth in a way that remains mission-driven, ethical, and responsive to the communities it serves. We take seriously our responsibility to steward this organization with integrity and transparency.

Independent Sustainability Systems, Inc. is still evolving, but its foundation is strong. The work ahead requires collaboration, humility, and persistence. I am confident in the organization’s direction and proud to support a mission that places people, education, and community resilience at the center of sustainability.
